With the art of Jiu-Jitsu, a person can successfully defend themselves against a larger, stronger, heavier adversary by employing a series of techniques and leverage. By following this approach, the confrontation moves to the ground and where submission holds are used to subdue your opponent. BJJ is first and foremost a style of martial art to be utilized primarily for self-defense. However, it has also gained renown in today’s day and age as a sport that promotes physical fitness, essential character building, and, ultimately, a way of life.

Beginner Brazilian Jiu-jitsu /Self-defense:

All beginners start with a basic curriculum that is designed to introduce the most fundamental concepts and core movements of Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Self-Defense. The concepts and movements learned will then be expanded upon over the entirety of the course. Here at the Ramona MMA Center, our focus is on teaching the most practical and applicable techniques to protect not only your, but those that you love most when encountered with real-life scenarios. The goal of the beginner’s program is to leave you instilled with a sense of clarity and control in life’s most threatening situations.

Advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

Upon enrolling within the Advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu course, students will receive instruction in intricate and complex techniques that elaborate upon those taught in the preceding levels. Students will exhibit these techniques while “rolling” (live sparring) with their teammates in order to gain experience in strategic maneuvering and implementation. This is often considered the most exhilarating part of training because it involves attempting to submit your training partners as they resist and counter act with their own moves. These training sessions are much, more intense than the BJJ beginner classes and provide not only an excellent workout, but a true challenge mind, body and spirit. The advanced class often used for competition preparation, which focuses on sport Jiu Jitsu. Competition Jiu Jitsu is designed to emphasize the aspects of sparring and drilling in order to prepare athletes for the rigors of professional tournaments.
